Amira Johnson, LCSW

Hello Rho’s Buds and Gardeners if you’re a part of the mailing list community. Welcome into this safe space! I am Amira Johnson and I am immensely grateful for your presence here. I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, raised in Riviera Beach, Florida and I’ve been living in Atlanta, Georgia since 2012. I’ve been practicing professionally as a psychotherapist since the year 2020, yet the role of “therapist” has been a part of my existence since I was a teenager. Ever heard of the “strong friend”? That would be me. Always present, always providing sound insight and advice, that more often than not I wouldn’t apply to myself.

After the passing of my mother Rhonda in 2015, who Rho’s Garden Counseling is named after, I began to explore the meaning of life through a deeper lens. The blueprint, or rather American Dream, no longer resonated with me. This opened many doors into my spiritual path which has been a journey of ebbs and flows. I am still on this journey exploring the many different aspects of what it means to be human. Therefore, I am certainly an imperfect person, yet I am blossoming and loving on myself through and through.

As a therapist, I like to approach therapy through a holistic lens blending my education, spiritual practices and evidenced-based modalities such as somatic experiencing. My goal is to help individuals remember how to be self-healers and awaken to the limitless power and potential within all of us. This involves acknowledging all facets of a person tending to the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual wounds that may be affecting one’s overall health and wellbeing.

I specialize in Anxiety, Grief & Loss and Trauma, and enjoy working with high-functioning women who on the surface have it all together yet are internally battling the unseen.
